Pupils are encouraged to begin with a practical session in the sports club to get an idea of the principles behind each simulation before turning to the screen. As well as full instructions on how to run each simulation, the book includes useful challenges for each simulation.
The pack includes books and files for four sport simulation titles:
- Basketball
- Chancemaker
- Discus
- Shot Put
Basketball
Simulate a basketball throw for one or more basketball players. You can change the player’s distance from the hoop and simulate changes to his height and strength. Graphing of the results is also possible. |
Chancemaker
A probability hot-desk where pupils can look at the outcomes of throwing a dice, tossing a coin, rolling a coin, throwing a frisbee and working with spinners. You don’t have to stick to simple probability either as all the gadgets can be configured (has a die with three sixes for example). All outcomes can be viewed as a graph. |
Discus
Travel back to Ancient Greece and watch an Olympian athlete throw a discus. You can change the size, weight and colour of the discus and the strength and height of the thrower. You can even alter the wind speed and show x y graphs for all the variables. |
Shot Put
Simulate a simple shot put. You can change the throwing distance, time of flight and the athletes height. Graphing of the results is also possible. |
