New Junior Datalogging Insight Features
One Program
There are three modes of use: Sensing, Timing and Manual, which inherit the former separate programs 'Sensing' and 'Timing'.
Animated cartoons
The animation feature in the Movie window is a major innovation for motivating pupils' interest in the information obtainable from sensors and graphs. Cartoon characters also help to display numbers in the Digits window.

Windows
The main window has seven client windows which can be used in any combination: Graph, Bars, Digits, Table, Chart, Movie, Notes. The main toolbar provides instant selection of windows.
Control Panel
The Control Panel has been simplified with several former buttons now displayed on the toolbar of the main window. There are now two action buttons, START and STOP. START is replaced by STORE in snapshot sensing mode.
Collecting data in Sensing mode
During collection, the data is simultaneously displayed in the Bar and Digits windows. A new feature is to display the Time axis value in black in these windows. Both the Bar and Digits windows may be adjusted in size and shape, and can be placed anywhere in the main window. Tooltips are used in both windows to identify the channel names and units for each coloured bar or value.
Graph plotting options
The thickness of both points and joining lines is adjustable with a RIGHT click action on the points control button on the toolbar. Different styles of joining the points are selectable from the 'Axes' dialogue box ('View' menu). Most notable are the options for showing both points and lines simultaneously.
Graph display options
A major new feature is the facility for stretching, squeezing or scrolling the axes and graph lines by intuitive mouse pointer actions: when you point to the scale markings or scale values, the pointer icon changes to indicate stretch or squeeze; when you point to an axis label, the pointer icon changes to indicate scroll. In either case a drag operation causes the scale and graph to change. These adjustments can be made at any time, including during logging, and apply to either 'zoom' or 'normal' graph displays.
Table window
At any stage, data may be viewed simultaneously in the Table window. The compact form of the table, showing only the data actually displayed on the graph, keeps the display simple and easy to read. When the graph cursor is active, the corresponding row in the table is highlighted in yellow. The graph cursor may be driven by moving the highlight with the mouse pointer. As in the Graph window, a single click 'freezes' the highlight position; a further click frees it. Pointing to the top or bottom line in the table window causes an intelligent scrolling action. A vertical drag action in the table causes a lateral magnification on the graph display in the Time axis direction.
Captions and Notes
A new method of defining captions on the graph allows for the definition of a pointer and the scaling of text to any desired size. A new window for writing notes about the data or model is also provided. This has basic text adapting facilities and the text is automatically saved in an Insight file.
Range of Data-loggers
With the ever expanding range of new data-loggers and sensors becoming available from a variety of manufacturers, the internal coding for Junior Datalogging Insight and Datalogging Insight has been organised to accommodate new items of hardware well into the future. The present version of the program contains up-to-date calibrations for a wide variety of hardware systems. As new hardware systems become available, the necessary additional coding will be freely downloadable from the Logotron website.
