There are a range of templates freely available to use with each of the five applications in the Early Essentials pack. The Write program is designed to support a range of writing activities.
Here, you can view the templates supporting the Write application, and read suggestions about how they can be used by you in your classroom.
Artwork
Here children can draw their own picture and add a title.
You could start a picture for them
and the children could finish the scene. |
|
Double Text and Picture
Children can draw two pictures and
write a few words under each picture.
Use this template for words that rhyme
or think about beginning and end. |
|
Envelope
Use the word bank with this template to focus on addressing a letter to Father Christmas or to Grandma in the
Red Riding Hood story. |
|
Four Pictures and Labels
Ideal for sequencing a story, a series of events, or an 'opposite' activity.
Also suitable for rhyming words where children complete the boxes. |
|
Picture and Text
Draw a picture and ask children to
colour it in, adding a few words about it.
This screen is also suitable for a simple cloze activity. |
|
Poem
Here children can write a poem or
complete one that you have started for them. |
|
Postcard
Send a postcard from the seaside to a friend, relation or story character.
Use the Word bank, for example, to
send a postcard to the Bear from Goldilocks. |
|
Posters
The poster templates can be used for a range of activities including posters to publicise school events, a topic poster, things we can do and certificates. |
|
Reports
The report templates are designed to provide you with a series of structures
for factual text. For example a newspaper report or report on a series of events. |
|
Write a story
Here children can write the beginning, middle and end of a story. You could get
the class to work on this as a project together using an Interactive Whiteboard. |
|
Story 2
Children can draw a book cover or topic folder cover and add their name or title. |
|
Text and Picture 1
Put a headline in the text box. Children then draw a picture and write about the event. Children could draw themselves
and write about their likes/dislikes or
write about a favourite story character. |
|
Text and Picture 2
Write a book review – set the template
up with headings for the children to use,
or sentences to complete. |
