An Interactive Look at Cartooning with The Robert Duncan Cartoon Kit
Following Logotron's success with the Bitfolio clip art products,
the first ever interactive guide to cartooning on CD-ROM is now available
for schools. Courtesy of clip art specialists, Management Graphics, The
Robert Duncan Cartoon Kit is a new addition to the Logotron range that
will bring a refreshing new look to contemporary art and design for children
from Key Stages 2 to 4.
All UK drawn and available on three platforms, The Robert Duncan Cartoon
Kit brings cartooning 'alive' on screen for children to combine learning
with play whilst exploring the familiar world of clip art and cartoons.
The software has also formed a medium for Inspiration learning which is
particularly useful for children who require creative assistance in lessons.
Useful in art, desk top publishing, design, project work, etc, the various
approaches of this CD-ROM, 'How to be a cartoonist' for example, offer
a highly motivational and an amusing way to learn the basics of words
and pictures combination.
The CD ROM contains all the files required for the user's computer type.
Each file has a unique name which is found situated alongside the picture
in the art book.
Pictures - all the art is featured in mono, spot and full colour and each variation is shown in
the manual. The programme is designed to teach users picture selection
and design concepts in a stimulating and fun way and the drawings provide
different levels of complexity that enable children to progress at their
own pace.
Begin from placing the chosen cartoon art into a file, along with a selection
of text. Design skills will develop by the selecting and editing of complete
cartoon strips and devising punchlines. The 'Kit' will allow the user
to collect words and picture combinations for their designs, so that,
as skill improves, so does the editing!
Choose from over 500 amusing images from a range including animals and
pets, sports, emotions, kids and assorted people, accompanied with 100
plus hand drawn captions like 'Here's to your birthday', 'Pass, pass,
pass', 'To a Really Boring Couple' and many more. Find a witty and innovative
picture easily and quickly by flicking through the manual.
The most popular cartoons and text have been used to design greeting cards
and cartoon strips. Alternatively, the user can simply edit the images
which have been drawn (not scanned) to create individual variations.
Priced at £29.78 (+VAT) The Robert Duncan Cartoon Kit is available
for Windows PC, Mac and Acorn RISC OS from Logotron.
