LOGOTRON & SEMERC team up to launch
Essential Tools for Primary IT Capability
LOGOTRON and SEMERC, two of the country's longest-established educational
software publishers and both sponsors of NAACE, are announcing a partnership
which will bring together the five most sought-after software applications
in UK Primary Schools.
The result is a CD-ROM for PC Windows, containing the tools which
are essential to teachers for developing IT capability in Primary
Schools. Hence the product name, ESSENTIAL
TOOLS for Primary IT Capability, which includes the following:
- Dazzle - painting
- Junior PinPoint - data handling
- My World - multimedia authoring
- SuperLogo - programming/problem solving
- TextEase - wordprocessing
- Essential Tools is to be supplied complete with easy installation
instructions and full documentation for each application.
Delighted with the alliance, Julian Pixton, Logotron's Managing Director,
said, "We realised that teachers are taking delivery of powerful
new computers but do not get the software they would choose to fully meet
the requirements of the National Curriculum. When we set about finding
exactly what software all Primary teachers absolutely had to use, we discovered
that, between Logotron and Semerc, we could supply the best of every 'breed'."
Keith Reeves, Managing Director of Semerc, added, "Teachers tell
us they are often dissatisfied with the software they receive with new
PCs and shopping around for alternatives is both difficult and time consuming.
Essential Tools offers a solution chosen by the teachers themselves, a
core of proven applications, around which they can build their software
library."
The launch of Essential Tools is welcomed not only by end-users but also
by both IT Centres and hardware manufacturers seeking to choose bundles
of software for installation on new school computers. They can use Essential
Tools as it is, or add other selected titles to make up curriculum focused
bundles for particular groups of customers, something which
Logotron & Semerc intend to do themselves as the partnership progresses.
