'Making Things Happen' -
Gaining Control in Education

CONTROL technology has traditionally been overlooked in the Making Things Happen strand of the National Curriculum, and until now teachers and pupils have had only a handful of activities to explore within control software packages. In response to feedback on its predecessor (Junior Control Insight), Junior Control Insight 2 from Logotron has evolved to meet the demands of an increasingly challenging schools market. By contextualising its language; adding an undo facility; and furnishing it with an assortment of examples, fix-its, and tutorials, teachers are likely to embrace the new developments and become more receptive to teaching control in the future.

Often associated with wires and switches, control has in the past been pushed under the carpet in education and therefore been the domain of the more 'hands-on' educationist, but new generation software like Junior Control Insight 2 has enabled curriculum requirements to be addressed onscreen without extra equipment. However, to further enhance pupils' 'control experience' Junior Control Insight 2 can be used with almost all major interfaces and accessories, too. The Deltronics and Economatics interfaces are just two examples.
What's more, its interface is fully customisable giving teachers added scope to focus on particular input and output devices or gradually build up onscreen features as their pupils', or indeed their own, capabilities develop.

Still containing old favourites like the 'Fairground' and the 'Dream Bedroom', the colourful medley of activities included in JCI2 is designed to bring control to life.

David Payne, Logotron's Marketing Manager, explained:
"By enriching an already popular product in response to customer feedback, we're confident that Junior Control Insight 2 will take control to new heights. New projects like Car Dashboard and Motorbike, and a Buggy output feature are set to rejuvenate the classroom and help children and teachers really begin to understand control."

Junior Control Insight 2 is available for just £52 (single user) with significant discounts offered for additional licences and also available as part of Logotron's astonishing KS2 collection Logotron ICT Tools.
