SETT 2004 will see much excitement and anticipation at the Logotron & Widgit Software stand – D28, with innovative new products and projects supporting inclusion.

LOGOTRON

Learning and Teaching Scotland has negotiated with Logotron for a selection of its products – Early Essentials, Magic Forest, Revelation Natural Art, Junior Control Insight 2, Junior Datalogging Insight, Junior View Point and Imagine– to be purchased through Learning and Teaching Scotland in the most cost-effective way. Allowing you to buy software with no commitment to quantities, to get the lowest possible price and to have the flexibility to buy software as and when you need it! In the first instance, if you are not already a user you must purchase a licence, manual and CD-ROM. Thereafter you can purchase additional licences.

The NEW Logotron catalogue will be available for visitors to SETT. The colourful catalogue has a whole rainbow of products and ideas that can be incorporated in the classroom.

The fantastic Logotron value favourite ICT Tools now includes School Office, described by the Times Educational Supplement as “a very good program, not easily distinguishable from the Microsoft version, especially the word processor, the spreadsheet and the presenter. The drawing program is different; there is nothing comparable to it in Microsoft Office. In fact, this is a high-quality drawing package that covers an area that is not touched by the Microsoft offering.”

Also NEW to the catalogue is Logotron Visual Fractions. A powerful new tool for teachers, it will provide new learning opportunities through its unique visual representation of fractional relationships. Ideal for use by the teacher or pupil on a classroom whiteboard, the software comes with a rich palette of visual maths objects that can be dynamically connected together and their properties varied with just a point and click.

WIDGIT

Widgit Software prides itself on developing imaginative resources that add to the contextual application of software in Special Needs. The latest result of this is the Symbols Inclusion Project, an exciting collaboration between Warwickshire LEA and Widgit Software to support communication friendly environments for inclusion in primary schools.

The Communicate series are software that can support the use of symbols, pictures and words. They aim to meet the diverse needs of every level of student ability, working in inclusive settings as well as those in specialised centres.

The first two programs in the series are Communicate: In Print , launched in May,which is the first genuine symbol desktop publisher, and Communicate: Webwide, the first symbol web browser, due for release in the Autumn. Communicate: SymMail, a web based email program, is currently under development.

The Disability Discrimination Act (DDA), which comes into effect this month, requires organisations to make their information accessible. The Communicate software provides a wonderful way of doing this.

To meet the team, preview the exciting new products, see a demonstration, or just have a friendly chat and pick up a pen! Please visit stand D28 .
