Scientific Reasoning with Logotron Transforms your Teaching…
Junior Simulation Insight, the eagerly awaited software that helps pupils explore, investigate and modify models is now available. The product comes with curriculum ready resources enabling teachers to quickly integrate the software into their teaching and create a stimulating classroom environment for their pupils.
It gives teachers and pupils access to simulations that aim to boost the scientific skills and knowledge of a new generation of learners. Teachers can feel confident that this new product will substantially develop their pupils’ thinking and reasoning skills at KS2-3 in ways not delivered by ‘static’ material.
Unlike most science simulation packages, which are limited to the simulations provided, Junior Simulation Insight allows pupils to explore or adapt the pre-built models provided, or create their own on-screen simulations. Pupils can explore “What if…?” scenarios so that they can develop the knowledge and skills to explain and interpret observations and measurements. For example, the software features a model that simulates the melting of ice into water – which can be used to illustrate the relationship between solids, liquids and gases. This simulation allows pupils to explore, investigate and modify the relationship between the melting time of ice and the surrounding temperature, which reinforces the science being taught.
Users of Junior Simulation Insight do not need to learn a specialist programming language; all instructions can be written in plain English so pupils will quickly be able to use the software to turn their own ideas into a form that can be investigated. The rules of the model can be shown as a full sentence, a short rule or as a formula, thus making it easy to adapt, extend or modify an existing simulation.
Junior Simulation Insight has full charting and graphing capability, so that pupils can investigate the behaviour of any model, and ensures that they are confident in being able to draw and justify conclusions from their projects. The software is ideal for collaborative use on an interactive whiteboard, allowing whole classes to investigate basic scientific principles together and improve their scientific knowledge and understanding.
In true Logotron tradition, Junior Simulation Insight comes with a high quality teaching and learning guide packed with advice to help make lessons engaging and successful. Plus, the software includes a good selection of pre-built animated models, ready to investigate and explore in the primary classroom, including; Growing Plants; The Water Cycle; Friction – Pulling a Sledge; Keeping Warm; Space – Satellites and Orbits; Simple Electric Circuits and many more… |
