NEW CLASSROOM RESOURCES TO EXPLORE…

EXPLORING PARACHUTES – ICT and Primary ScieEnce

The EXPLORING PARACHUTES Activity Pack from Logotron has been designed to support work on Forces in the science curriculum. It consists of a series of differentiated activities for pupils at Key Stages 2 and 3.

It is easy to demonstrate the parachute principal in the classroom by making models with string and polythene sheets. Such model making allows pupils to explore what makes a parachute successful by direct observation and measurement.

However, by combining the use of real experiments with the JUNIOR SIMULATION INSIGHT software the basic ideas from the practical experiments can be further explored and extended. The use of the ready-made computer simulations sharpen pupils thinking and further develop their learning around related subjects.

The activity pack provides everything you need in order to effectively deliver learning. It consists of: instructions for the practical experiments (KS2), the computer simulation with pupil activity sheets and teachers’ notes (KS2 and 3) and a series of extension activities aimed at KS3.

Click here for an animated walk-through of the Activity Pack, as well as the Parachute Simulation included in Junior Simulation Insight and Simulation Insight.

A network licence of EXPLORING PARACHUTES can be purchased for just £20.00 (requires the Junior Simulation Insight software).

JUNIOR SIMULATION INSIGHT software starts at just £55 for a single user. Network licence and Extended School licence, for pupil and teacher home use are available.

The EXPLORING PARACHUTES Activity Pack is the first in an extensive series of low-cost resources that will support primary science teaching. Look out, on the website, for EXPLORING STRETCHING & BOUNCING which will be available shortly!
