Logotron and Speedwell Merge
Logotron Ltd, the Cambridge based software publisher has today merged with Speedwell Computing Services, the medical examination and assessment specialists based in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire.
The merger brings together two well established and leading software companies in their respective fields:
- Logotron Ltd with its history of innovative software tools for teaching and learning (Logotron), its world-renowned symbol supported communication software for special learners (Widgit), and its outstanding KeyPoint survey software for local government, higher education and business (Cambridge Software Publishing); and
- Speedwell Computing Services with its high quality bespoke solutions for the processing of examinations and assessments using the latest automated data entry techniques (Speedwell), and its automated forms processing solutions and bureau services to the educational, business and commercial sectors (ScanXL).
Together, the two companies plan to bring innovative, high performance and cost effective scanning and data handling solutions to customers in all areas of education, health, government and commercial markets.
Jo Goodison, Managing Director of Speedwell, welcomed the merger: “Bringing Logotron and Speedwell together will enable us to partner more effectively. We can develop exciting new products and services and bring them to market more quickly than we could have managed separately. This will be to the benefit of both existing and future customers.”
Julian Pixton, Director of Logotron, added: “The timing of this merger coincides perfectly with the new Prime Minister’s Education reshuffle. He has separated the former DFES into the DCSF ‘The Department of Children, Schools and Families’ and the DIUS ‘The Department of Innovation, Universities and Skills’. Logotron Ltd now has market-leading software positions in both areas.”
Jo Goodison and Peter Goodland from Speedwell computing have today become directors of the expanded Logotron Ltd.
