The following table lists the special shortcuts and other actions that can be carried out with the keyboard in Thinking with Pictures.

Open Open a saved map Ctrl + O
Save Save will ask for a map name when first activated. Then it will save under current name. Ctrl + S
Print Provides print options Ctrl + P
Undo Undoes previous changes in order Ctrl + Z
Redo Replaces previous changes in order Ctrl + Y
Cut Deletes highlighted Connected Idea Ctrl + X
Copy Copies a highlighted Idea Ctrl + C
Paste Pastes Idea to a new location but without a link Ctrl + V
Delete Deletes highlighted Connected Idea Delete
Select All Selects everything on the screen Ctrl + A
Auto mode on;
Idea selected
Create a new connected Idea connected to selected Idea’s parent (i.e. at same level as selected Idea) Return
Auto mode off Create a new unconnected Idea at insertion point Return
